Hither Green Station is a 6-platform station part of the south-eastern London rail network, serving an important role for daily commuters to get in and out from Central London. Along the need for an M&E due to old equipment lifespan, the station is now due a canopy replacement in the middle island.
As part of a multi-station framework, Crayside Consulting was appointed by BAM Nuttall to design a full upgrade of the exisiting M&E system of Hither Green Station. Our design duties involved carrying out surveys, replacing the exisiting electrical supply, containment and lighting on the platforms and the station buildings and to accommodate for the upcoming canopy replacement.
Utilising BIM technology, out design was accelerated through the design stage due to availbilty of detailed 3D information at our hand. In such a way, we enabled a tailored solution to be incorporated into the station design.
With Hither Green Station, one larger challenge was to ensure the electrical supply throughout the whole station which is divided up into 6 platforms. Due to the above ground locaion, services routing became challenging as the electrical routes needed to cross the tracks from the source whilst being concealed. We elegantly routed it throughout the station subway, providing a reliable supply without compromising on aesthtics.
